The Outside Sales Representative at Builders FirstSource is a pivotal role that requires a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to effectively represent the company to its largest and most complex customers. This position is designed for individuals who possess in-depth knowledge, experience, and skills in sales, marketing, and customer service. The representative will be responsible for identifying customer requirements and matching them with the appropriate products and services offered by the company. This role also involves a leadership component, where the representative will help train and develop less experienced sales staff, and may act as the Sales Manager in their absence. In this role, the Outside Sales Representative will engage in various essential duties and responsibilities. They will represent the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications, acting as a liaison between the inside technical/design staff and the customer to develop sales proposals. The representative will handle complex customer requirements, develop sales contracts for a range of projects including residential, multi-family, and commercial, and troubleshoot field issues that may arise. They will also conduct sales presentations, design professional demonstrations of company products, and continuously update customers on new products and services. The representative will be expected to research and solicit new customers, generate sales opportunities, and enhance their knowledge of sales techniques and product offerings through company-sponsored training programs. They will prepare reports and documentation for management and participate in safety meetings to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
