About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative for Capital Pump & Equipment, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth by promoting and selling specialized equipment, including pumps and filtration systems, to clients within your assigned territory. This role emphasizes building strong customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional customer service while enhancing the company's brand and market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow revenue by prospecting new accounts and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Target competitor accounts and identify new opportunities to promote the product range.
  • Manage all stages of the sales process, including preparing contracts and negotiating bids.
  • Conduct 60 or more face-to-face calls per week with customers and prospects.
  • Submit 15 or more rental quotes per week and maintain an updated active quote file.
  • Showcase equipment through Tow-n-Shows weekly, demonstrating product features on-site.
  • Host monthly Lunch and Learn sessions to engage and educate customers.
  • Submit detailed weekly wrap-ups every Friday, including key activities and opportunities.
  • Provide an active calls log to track customer interactions and progress toward goals.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients for customer retention.
  • Engage in sales blitzes organized by management to focus on target accounts.
  • Implement strategic sales plans to drive growth and track performance through reports.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitors to adapt sales approaches as needed.
  • Coordinate with branch managers and participate in weekly sales meetings.
  • Maintain a professional image and ensure sales materials are readily available in your vehicle.
  • Attend trade show mixers monthly to network and expand professional connections.
  • Serve on a committee for a local trade association to stay informed about market trends.
  • Build relationships with local equipment rental companies to increase sales opportunities.
  • Provide after-hours and emergency support for urgent customer needs.
  • Represent Capital Pump & Equipment at industry events and customer visits.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial/municipal equipment rental and service.
  • Experience in selling pumps, filtration systems, or related equipment is highly preferred.
  • Proven consultative sales skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to create and present reports, contracts, and strategic plans.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
