About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for developing new accounts and opportunities while maintaining and growing a current customer base in the local Security Integrator market. This role emphasizes in-person selling and account management to meet sales revenue targets by understanding customer needs and suggesting appropriate products and services. The position offers a chance to start a long-term career with a well-established global distributor, focusing on self-motivation and personal accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer needs and suggest products, services and/or solutions to ensure a smooth sales process.
  • Execute and expand assigned customer account plans developed in conjunction with management.
  • Implement billing margin initiatives through value-added services, marketing programs, and supplier engagement.
  • Prospect potential customers through cold calling and developing leads via referral channels.
  • Communicate with customers to identify and understand their product or service needs, suggesting appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrate the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management, resolving any post-sale issues.
  • Maintain communication with existing and previous customers about new products, services, and enhancements.
  • Utilize sales management tools for sales planning, supplier planning, and documenting opportunities.
  • Develop and grow product knowledge through WESCO and supplier training.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, including performing regular joint sales calls.
  • Provide quotations directly or in conjunction with the sales support team.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Prior sales experience required, outside sales preferred.
  • Two years of industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel to current and potential clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques.
