About the position

The Outside Sales Representative for the Vancouver Market is responsible for effectively representing the company to its largest and most complex customers. This role involves understanding customer needs, developing sales proposals, and participating in training and development of less experienced sales staff. The representative will also act as a liaison between customers and technical staff, ensuring that customer requirements are met while driving sales growth.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications.
  • Acts as a liaison between inside technical/design staff and customers in developing sales proposals.
  • Develops sales contracts for a wide range of projects, including residential, multi-family, and commercial.
  • Troubleshoots complex field issues that may arise during the sales process.
  • Plans and conducts sales presentations for current and prospective customers.
  • Designs professional demonstrations or presentations of company products and services.
  • Researches, identifies, and solicits new customers to generate sales opportunities.
  • Continuously updates customers on products and services to meet their requirements.
  • Participates in a leadership role, such as chairing meetings and acting in the Sales Manager's capacity during their absence.
  • Prepares recurring and special reports for management as required.
  • Enhances knowledge of sales techniques and product knowledge by attending training programs.
  • Plans and paces own work efficiency to meet productivity goals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years prior Building Material sales experience and/or experience in residential construction.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to drive to customer locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of company products, services, production processes, and product standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Highly effective selling and presentation skills.
  • Ability to achieve aggressive sales goals and objectives.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite.
