About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in connecting people and communities by offering best-in-class telecommunication services. This position involves door-to-door solicitation of new prospective customers, where you will actively engage with potential clients to understand their needs and present tailored solutions. Your primary focus will be on acquiring new residential customers through proactive consultative needs analysis, ensuring that you develop and present compelling sales presentations that align with customer requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately completing all necessary paperwork to support your sales activities, adhering to quality control guidelines. This includes dispositioning, entering sales orders, and reporting on sales metrics. You will also be expected to participate actively in team meetings and training programs, contributing to team goals and achieving monthly sales quotas across various products, including high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video services. Your success will depend on your ability to stay informed about competitors' activities in your assigned territory, allowing you to adapt your sales strategies accordingly. You will spend approximately 90% of your time in an outside environment, which may include exposure to inclement weather, while minimal time will be spent in an office setting. This position requires a strong personal drive to succeed and the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with potential customers through door-to-door solicitation.
  • Conduct proactive consultative needs analysis with prospective customers.
  • Develop and present sales presentations/proposals that meet customer needs.
  • Complete necessary paperwork to support sales activities, including entering sales orders and reporting on sales.
  • Participate in sales meetings and training programs to support team goals.
  • Achieve monthly sales quotas in high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video sales.
  • Stay informed about competitors' activities and report changes to management.
  • Attend and successfully complete training programs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills and ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to formulate needs-based sales strategies and articulate pitches.
  • Strong personal drive to succeed in sales.
  • Ability to travel to assigned territories using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and communication devices.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Success in a previous sales position, prospecting, or cold calling.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications services, especially data networking fundamentals.
  • 2+ years of sales or relevant work experience.
