The Sales position is a dynamic role focused on driving revenue through proactive engagement with both existing and potential customers. The primary responsibility is to conduct sales calls to existing customers while actively prospecting new customers to develop the assigned territory. This involves utilizing various communication methods, including cold calling, scheduled visits, telephone, and email communications, to establish and maintain relationships with clients. The Sales representative is expected to respond immediately to incoming inquiries and follow up on all quotations and product demonstrations in a timely manner, ensuring that customer needs are met promptly and effectively. In addition to direct sales activities, the role includes participation in trade organizations and public events, as well as company-sponsored activities, to enhance visibility and promote products. The Sales representative will perform machine demonstrations and product feature walk-arounds, showcasing the benefits and features of the products to potential customers. Well-developed negotiating and closing techniques are essential for success in this role, as is the ability to maintain availability and flexibility to respond to customer needs as they arise. Promoting after-sale business and encouraging repeat sales are also key components of the position. Product knowledge is critical, and the Sales representative is expected to attend manufacturer-sponsored training events and utilize both printed and web-based resources to develop a deep understanding of the products. This includes obtaining information and support from product manufacturers as needed and developing familiarity with competitive products and comparisons. The ability to qualify customer product needs based on job site applications is essential, as is maintaining an active awareness of current inventory, rental, and used units available for sale. Administrative responsibilities include communicating necessary information to Sales Support personnel to prepare quotations, reviewing all quotations and Sales Analysis worksheets for accuracy, and working directly with customers to explain and obtain signatures on all documents. The Sales representative will prepare and submit weekly call logs and expense reports electronically and ensure that detailed customer contact information is updated in the company database. Utilizing all available technology to maximize productivity is also a key expectation of the role. Finally, the Sales representative will actively review market conditions, opportunities, and market share results, collaborating with the Store Manager and/or General Manager on pricing and special approvals, and following up with each machine and rental customer to determine if additional support is required.
