About the position

Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. is currently seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join our team, based out of our branch in Corona, California, or in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This role is crucial for achieving maximum sales and profitability while helping to grow sales and account insights within a multi-state territory that includes the Western states such as Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for effectively selling the company's catalog and engineered pipe supports, as well as our engineered designs and project management services related to infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will identify solid market segments and will be tasked with personally contacting and securing new business accounts and customers. This position requires establishing, developing, and maintaining business relationships with both current and prospective customers to generate new business for the organization's products and services. The representative will respond to inquiries and requests for quotations, perform business development calls, and conduct presentations, along with necessary follow-ups. Additionally, the role involves identifying new business opportunities within distribution, end-user targets, and large industrial projects. The representative will also train end users on Carpenter & Paterson's products and services, support existing product lines by addressing technical questions from customers, and engage in direct customer interface both locally and through overnight travel. Becoming technically proficient in customers' applications and gaining knowledge of new uses for existing products is essential. Participation in trade shows and conventions is also part of the responsibilities, along with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new business.
  • Respond to prospective customer inquiries and requests for quotations.
  • Perform business development calls, presentations, and related follow-up.
  • Identify new business opportunities within distribution, end-user targets, and large industrial projects.
  • Train end users on Carpenter & Paterson's products and services.
  • Support existing product lines by fielding technical questions from customers.
  • Engage in direct customer interface, both locally and through overnight travel.
  • Become technically proficient in customers' applications and gain knowledge of new uses for existing products.
  • Participate in trade shows and conventions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Sales experience in pipe hangers, engineered pipe supports, industrial construction, wastewater projects, or other relevant construction is a plus.
  • Must have own transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to demonstrate solid sales strategy system.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industrial construction or wastewater projects.
  • Familiarity with engineered designs and project management.
