The Outside Sales Representative demonstrates in-depth knowledge, experience, and skills to effectively represent the company with the largest or most complex customers. This role requires understanding customer needs and identifying products and services to meet these requirements. The representative participates in a leadership role, helping train and develop less experienced members of the sales staff and may also act as Sales Manager during their absence. Essential duties include representing the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications, acting as a liaison between inside technical/design staff and customers in developing sales proposals. The representative possesses the experience and knowledge to effectively handle complex or highly specialized customer requirements, develops sales contracts for a wide range of projects, and troubleshoots field issues that may be difficult to resolve. They are responsible for planning and conducting sales presentations, designing professional demonstrations of company products, and continuously updating customers on products and services. The role also involves researching, identifying, and soliciting new customers, generating sales opportunities, and preparing reports for management. The Outside Sales Representative enhances their knowledge of sales techniques and expands product and industry knowledge by attending company-sponsored training programs and may serve as a presenter at training programs to assist in the development of less experienced Outside Sales Reps. The representative must understand and observe all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to themselves or coworkers, attending periodic safety meetings as required.
