About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at BFS Group LLC plays a crucial role in representing the company to its largest and most complex customers. This position requires a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to identify suitable products and services to meet those requirements. The representative will engage in a leadership capacity, assisting in the training and development of less experienced sales staff, and may temporarily assume the role of Sales Manager in their absence. In this role, the representative will be responsible for collecting data on customer needs and design specifications, acting as a liaison between the inside technical/design staff and the customer to develop comprehensive sales proposals. The representative will also be tasked with developing sales contracts for a variety of projects, including residential, multi-family, and commercial, by gathering specification information from the client's engineer or architect and communicating any needs or changes to the technical staff and management. The position involves troubleshooting complex field issues, planning and conducting effective sales presentations, and designing professional demonstrations of the company's products and services. The representative will actively research and solicit new customers, generating sales opportunities through a thorough understanding of client needs and industry competition. Continuous communication with customers regarding product updates and how these products meet their current or future requirements is essential. Additionally, the representative will prepare various reports and documentation for management, enhance their sales techniques and product knowledge through company-sponsored training programs, and may serve as a presenter at these training sessions. The role requires a commitment to safety procedures and practices, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and coworkers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications.
  • Acts as a liaison between inside technical/design staff and customers in developing sales proposals.
  • Develops sales contracts for residential, multi-family, and commercial projects by collecting specification information from clients.
  • Troubleshoots complex field issues that may arise during the sales process.
  • Plans and conducts sales presentations for current and prospective customers.
  • Designs professional demonstrations of company products and services.
  • Researches, identifies, and solicits new customers to generate sales opportunities.
  • Continuously updates customers on products and services to meet their requirements.
  • Participates in a leadership role, such as chairing meetings and training less experienced sales staff.
  • Prepares recurring and special reports for management as required.
  • Enhances knowledge of sales techniques and product knowledge through training programs.
  • Plans and paces work efficiency to meet productivity goals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years prior sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of company products, services, and production processes.
  • Understanding of policies and procedures relating to sales and customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Highly effective selling and presentation skills.
  • Ability to achieve aggressive sales goals and objectives.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license.
