About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at Schaffer Equipment is responsible for managing a designated territory in Fort Worth, TX, focusing on sales and rentals of heavy construction equipment. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit to build and maintain a book of business while delivering profitable sales results. The representative will engage with customers to provide solutions for their equipment needs and ensure customer loyalty to increase market share and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated territory and/or customers to maximize the company's presence on equipment purchases.
  • Sell and rent new and used heavy construction equipment.
  • Quote and negotiate prices, deliver contracts, and close orders.
  • Grow and develop relationships and customer loyalty to increase market share, total revenue, and gross profit.
  • Work with customers to provide solutions to their equipment needs.
  • Provide on-site expertise for demonstrations, machine inspections, and technical support.
  • Attend training and sales meetings to stay current with new equipment and promotions.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date information in the company's sales tracking system and control sales expenses.

Requirements

  • Experience in construction equipment sales preferred, or experience in a related equipment sector.
  • Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and online machine specification software.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write business correspondence and effectively present information.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong references from former employers and colleagues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales occupations for at least 3 years.
  • Experience in the construction sector for at least 3 years.
