About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at Northwest Automation is a results-driven sales professional responsible for expanding the customer base and delivering exceptional service in the industrial automation sector. This role focuses on leveraging technical expertise to identify new sales opportunities, particularly in the Portland market, and building relationships with OEMs and end users to provide tailored automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new clients through cold calling, networking, and lead follow-up.
  • Consult with clients to identify their automation challenges, analyze their needs, and propose effective solutions using NWAP's product offerings.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations showcasing NWAP's automation products and services.
  • Track sales and financial data, generating regular reports for management.
  • Represent NWAP at trade shows and industry conferences.
  • Negotiate and close deals, addressing customer concerns and objections.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, sales) to achieve optimal results for all NWAP customers.

Requirements

  • Proven success in a technical sales role or related field, preferably within the automation industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation principles and applications.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear and concise language for customers.
  • Experience identifying customer needs and proposing technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with a plus for Salesforce experience.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Experience selling to industrial, municipal, OEM, or food processing companies a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred.
