About the position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving the growth of the organization by acquiring new business in the construction sector, specifically focusing on services related to fire alarm and detection, low voltage systems, and security. This role involves both outside and inside sales, managing the sales process from initial contact to contract acquisition, and fostering relationships with customers to ensure continued sales success.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire sales leads for new work including installations for fire alarm and detection, low voltage, clean agents, security, and other services.
  • Provide outside sales and inside sales support.
  • Solicit all building and construction types including new construction, renovations, additions, and retrofits.
  • Lead the sales process from initial contact to contract acquisition.
  • Generate new relationships and maintain existing ones among the customer base.
  • Create new proposals, follow up on active proposals, and close sales on active proposals.
  • Communicate the status of active proposals to management.
  • Attend internal and external meetings for project coordination and customer engagement.
  • Represent the company professionally among customers and in the industry.
  • Assist Project Managers and Design Department with schedules and product information.
  • Support Accounting personnel with job setup and monitoring profitability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in business development or Fire Life Safety sales preferred.
  • 2 years of experience operating a computer and using Microsoft Office required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred.
