About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative at Colony Hardware, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the construction industry and trades by providing exceptional service and solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers, educating them about Colony's extensive inventory, unmatched customer service, and efficient delivery capabilities. In your daily activities, you will visit job sites and interact with key decision-makers such as owners, executives, superintendents, project managers, engineers, and contractors. Your office will often be on the road, whether in your vehicle, at a construction site, or in a corporate office setting. You will conduct product demonstrations, lead training seminars, and participate in trade events, both independently and in collaboration with product specialists and vendors. Your approach will be consultative, acting as a solution provider to address the evolving needs of your customers. To ensure your success, you will integrate regional and company-wide sales initiatives into your strategy, aligning your efforts with product-specific goals. Responsibilities

  • Call on job sites and meet with owners, executives, superintendents, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other key players with buying influence in the construction space.
  • Provide product demonstrations and training seminars to customers.
  • Participate in trade events independently and in partnership with product specialists and vendors.
  • Operate in a consultative manner to act as a true solution provider to customers.
  • Integrate regional and company-wide sales initiatives and product-specific goals into your sales strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in the construction or industrial sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while on the road.
  • Results-driven with a competitive nature and a strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing tasks.
