About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at Builders FirstSource is responsible for effectively representing the company to its largest and most complex customers. This role involves understanding customer needs, developing sales proposals, and participating in training and development of less experienced sales staff. The representative will also act as a liaison between customers and the technical/design staff, ensuring that customer requirements are met and sales opportunities are maximized.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data on customer needs and design specifications during the sales process.
  • Act as a liaison between inside technical/design staff and customers to develop sales proposals.
  • Develop sales contracts for various projects by gathering specification information from clients.
  • Troubleshoot complex field issues that may arise during the sales process.
  • Plan and conduct sales presentations for current and prospective customers.
  • Design professional demonstrations or presentations of company products and services.
  • Research, identify, and solicit new customers to generate sales opportunities.
  • Continuously update customers on products and services and how they meet their needs.
  • Participate in leadership roles, such as chairing meetings and training less experienced sales staff.
  • Prepare recurring and special reports for management as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Two years of prior sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of company products, services, and production processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Highly effective selling and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite and a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
