About the position

The Outside Sales Representative position is a dynamic role focused on generating and securing sales of building materials with both new and existing customers. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a performance-driven environment, offering uncapped earning potential based on sales performance. The representative will be responsible for promoting the company's products, facilitating customer product selection, and servicing existing accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. In this role, the representative will engage with customers to understand their needs and assist them in selecting the best products suited for their projects. This includes preparing and communicating price quotations, sale terms, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers and contractors. The representative will also estimate materials based on blueprints provided by clients, resolve any customer complaints or issues, and assist in the collection of accounts receivable. Participation in training sessions is required to stay updated on product knowledge and sales techniques. The position requires a flexible schedule, including the possibility of working weekends, to accommodate customer needs and maximize sales opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to interpret various forms of instructions, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn specialized software such as Envisioneer™.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and secure new accounts.
  • Facilitate customer product selection.
  • Service existing accounts with necessary custom products, time, and information.
  • Assist with product selection best suited to customer needs.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and communicate price quotations, sale terms, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers/contractors.
  • Estimate materials from blueprints provided by customers/contractors.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Assist in accounts receivable collection.
  • Attend and participate in training, when required.
  • Perform other assigned duties, responsibilities, or tasks.

Requirements

  • Complete and pass a drug, alcohol, background screen and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Speak, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagrams, and schedule-form instructions.
  • Calculate figures and amounts (i.e., discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Learn and utilize Envisioneer™ software.
