In addition to prospecting, the Outside Sales Representative may lead or participate in presentations to new clients, showcasing the company's capabilities and services. Establishing and maintaining effective contact with clients is vital, as is the ability to identify new work leads and manage follow-ups diligently. The representative will also be responsible for record-keeping and distributing information related to sales activities. Learning to estimate jobs accurately is another key aspect of this role, as it will enable the representative to provide clients with precise information regarding project costs and timelines. The representative will meet with client management, staff, and supervisory personnel to explain the company's character, policies, skills, resources, and capabilities. They will notify management of sales activities and the approximate timing for company proposal and bid submissions. Understanding client needs and evaluating the company's resources and capabilities in light of those needs is essential for success in this position. The representative will also represent the company during client and project management meetings, ensuring that all parties are aligned and informed. Planning, coordinating, and supervising onsite functions, such as scheduling and material control, will be part of the representative's responsibilities. They will interface with all onsite work groups as required to resolve problems and ensure the quality of construction in support of the overall project schedule. Additionally, the representative may assist in the development and implementation of the Strategic Marketing Plan, department sales objectives, and individual sales plans. This role may also involve performing additional assignments as directed by the supervisor. Travel requirements for this position are negotiable, allowing for flexibility in managing client relationships and project oversight.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Comfortable in a highly visible role to potential and current customers, requiring the ability to influence and persuade.
  • Ability to learn the sales process and successfully close sales.
  • Enjoys meeting people and resolving business issues.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record required when duties require use of a motor vehicle.
