The Outside Sales Representative plays a crucial role in representing the company to its largest and most complex customers. This position requires a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to identify appropriate products and services to meet those requirements. The representative will not only engage with customers but also participate in a leadership capacity, helping to train and develop less experienced sales staff. In the absence of the Sales Manager, the Outside Sales Representative may take on managerial responsibilities, ensuring that sales processes continue smoothly and effectively. In this role, the representative will be responsible for collecting data on customer needs and design specifications, acting as a liaison between the inside technical/design staff and customers to develop tailored sales proposals. The representative will also be tasked with developing sales contracts for a variety of projects, including residential, multi-family, and commercial, by gathering specification information from clients' engineers or architects and communicating any needs or changes to the technical staff and management. The Outside Sales Representative will troubleshoot complex field issues and conduct effective sales presentations for both current and prospective customers. This includes designing professional demonstrations of the company's products and services, clearly articulating how these offerings can meet specific customer needs. Additionally, the representative will be responsible for researching and soliciting new customers, generating sales opportunities through a thorough understanding of client needs and industry competition. Continuous communication with customers regarding product updates and how these products can fulfill current or future requirements is essential. The representative will also take on leadership roles, such as chairing meetings and providing training to less experienced sales representatives. Regular preparation of reports and documentation for management is required, along with a commitment to enhancing personal knowledge of sales techniques and industry products through company-sponsored training programs. The representative must also adhere to all safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
