As part of our team, you'll play a crucial role in expanding our market presence and establishing strong client relationships in the Pacific Northwest. The Outside Sales Representative at Knife River Prestress is responsible for developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the precast market in the Pacific Northwest. This role requires meeting with clients frequently to discuss their project pipelines and how precast solutions can add value to their projects. The ideal candidate will maintain positive business relationships to ensure future sales, clearly communicate project timelines, budgets, and next step requirements with the sales team, and serve as an intermediary between our customers and the project management team as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal staff to optimize the sales process.
  • Frequently meet with clients to discuss their project pipelines and demonstrate the value of precast solutions.
  • Manage ongoing client relationships during and after project completion to ensure satisfaction and foster future sales opportunities.
  • Gain and maintain industry knowledge on the use of precast concrete.
  • Build relationships, offer design support, and learn project processes with owners, architects, structural engineers, and general contractors.
  • Provide preconstruction ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) and best value job costing to contractors.
  • Develop proposals and presentations in coordination with the design team.
  • Coordinate the development of technical content to support sales efforts.
  • Ensure smooth handoff of projects to the project management team post-award.
  • Provide additional estimating services as needed and assist with project management as required.
  • Utilize CRM to effectively communicate efforts to sales and production teams.
  • Communicate project timelines, budgets, and next step requirements clearly with the sales team.
  • Travel frequently to meet with clients and work remotely as needed along the I5 Corridor.
  • Work outside of typical business hours when project workloads fluctuate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in quantity take-offs for concrete and/or building enclosure components is a plus.
  • Team player with a collaborative attitude, willing to help others and contribute to the team's success.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to work well under demanding deadlines.
  • Proficiency in software applications including Excel, Word, Access, and BlueBeam/Adobe suites.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including architectural and structural drawings.
  • General CAD knowledge is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Desire and willingness to train others.
