About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in connecting people and communities by offering best-in-class telecommunication services. This position involves door-to-door solicitation of new prospective customers, where you will actively engage with potential clients to understand their needs and present tailored solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for acquiring new residential customers through proactive outreach and consultative needs analysis. You will develop and present compelling sales presentations and proposals that align with the customers' needs, ensuring that you accurately complete all necessary paperwork to support your sales activities. This includes entering sales orders, reporting on sales, and adhering to quality control guidelines. You will also be expected to participate actively in team meetings and training programs, contributing to team goals and achieving monthly sales quotas across various products, including high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video services. Additionally, you will need to stay informed about competitors' activities within your assigned territory, reporting any changes in pricing programs or marketing strategies to your manager. Your role will also require you to attend and successfully complete training programs to enhance your sales skills and product knowledge. Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor as needed, making adaptability and a willingness to learn essential traits for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with potential customers through door-to-door solicitation.
  • Conduct proactive consultative needs analysis with new prospective customers.
  • Develop and present sales presentations/proposals on products and services that meet customers' needs.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to support sales activities, including dispositioning and entering sales orders.
  • Participate in all sales meetings and training programs as assigned.
  • Achieve monthly sales quotas in high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video sales.
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to products sold in accordance with department practices and policies.
  • Stay informed about competitors' activities in assigned territory and report changes to management.
  • Attend and successfully complete training programs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to listen, formulate needs-based sales strategies, and articulate pitches to sell products and services.
  • A passion to succeed and a strong personal drive to sell to prospective customers.
  • Ability to travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and software applications as well as consumer and commercial communication devices.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business needs dictate.
  • A valid driver's license, car insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Success in a previous sales position, prospecting, or cold calling; direct sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications services, with an emphasis on data networking fundamentals.
