About the position

Ryerson has an opportunity for an Outside Sales Representative managing our Austin/San Antonio market. As an OSR, you are responsible for building and growing transactional relationships with new and existing customers. The future will be made from metal. In this role, you will quickly build strong relationships with contacts while promoting Ryerson's E-commerce capabilities. You will understand the goals and concepts of our business and incorporate these goals to achieve sales profitability targets. You will work closely with our inside sales team, credit center, inventory managers, and other departments within the company. Keeping customers informed about industry and economic trends is crucial, as is Ryerson's ability to assist customers in adapting to change while managing daily call planning and execution. You will also need to understand and monitor the competitive environment, providing market intelligence to sales management to help shape service center sales strategies, price levels, and capital decisions. Your goal will be to increase revenue from assigned customers by selling value-added services and programs, as well as growing new business through profitable transactional growth. You will manage customer accounts, including the implementation of memorandums of understanding, margin analysis, competitive market information, and quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in marketing, business or a related field of study) or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous sales experience in metals service center industry or similar industrial sales background.
  • Prior experience working directly with inside sales team members is a plus.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships quickly.
  • Possess creative and complex thinking skills to resolve customer's wants and needs.
  • Ability to function well with customer demands in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Must be able to travel.
