In this role, the Outside Sales Representative will coordinate sales distribution by analyzing market conditions and determining sales potential. They will be responsible for reviewing production schedules and managing inventory requirements to meet the needs of both current and new customers. The representative will also develop and implement marketing strategies to promote products effectively, ensuring alignment with market characteristics and cost factors. Participation in food shows is a key aspect of this role, as it provides opportunities to generate new sales leads and expand the customer base. Customer service is a critical component of this position, as the representative will handle inquiries and resolve complaints through effective communication and problem-solving skills. They will be responsible for contacting customers to obtain purchase orders and addressing any related issues. The role requires significant travel, with the representative expected to spend 50% or more of their time outside the office engaging with clients. Regular reporting to the National Sales Manager on sales status and contributions to team efforts are also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and determines sales distribution by establishing sales market, quotas, and goals.
  • Reviews production schedules and determines sales potential and inventory requirements to manage current and new customers.
  • Develops marketing strategy aligned with established objectives, market characteristics, and cost factors.
  • Develops and directs marketing activities to promote products in coordination.
  • Attends food shows to generate new sales leads.
  • Handles customer inquiries by phone or email and resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Contacts customers to obtain purchase orders and handle purchase order-related issues to adjust the order.
  • Travels to meet current and future customers/accounts, spending 50% or more of time outside the office making sales or obtaining orders from prospective or current clients.
  • Provides weekly sales status reports to the National Sales Manager or as requested.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of work experience in any field.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to handle rejection and overcome objections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Language proficiency in English (Business level or above) and Japanese (Business level or above).
  • Valid California driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Enjoys traveling.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
