About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in connecting people and communities by offering best-in-class telecommunication services. Your primary responsibility will be to engage in door-to-door solicitation of new prospective customers, actively promoting our products and services. You will be responsible for acquiring new residential customers through direct contact, conducting proactive consultative needs analyses, and developing tailored sales presentations that meet the specific needs of customers. In addition to sales activities, you will be expected to complete all necessary paperwork accurately, ensuring compliance with quality control guidelines. This includes entering sales orders, reporting on sales, and maintaining detailed records of customer interactions. You will also support team goals by participating in sales meetings and training programs, contributing to a collaborative team environment. Achieving monthly sales quotas across various products, including high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video services, will be a key performance indicator for your role. Your success will depend on your ability to stay informed about competitors' activities within your assigned territory, allowing you to adapt your sales strategies accordingly. You will also be required to attend and successfully complete training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge. This position may involve performing additional duties as requested by your supervisor, making flexibility and adaptability essential traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Acquire new residential customers through door-to-door contact from assigned leads.
  • Conduct proactive consultative needs analysis with new prospective customers.
  • Develop and present sales presentations/proposals on products and services that meet customers' needs.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork to support sales activities in a manner consistent with quality control guidelines.
  • Support team and team goals by actively participating in all sales meetings and training programs as assigned.
  • Achieve monthly sales quotas in high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video sales.
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to products sold in accordance with department practice, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay well-informed about competitors' activities in assigned territory and inform manager of any changes.
  • Attend and successfully complete training programs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to listen, formulate needs-based sales strategies, and articulate pitches to sell products and services.
  • A passion to succeed and a strong personal drive to sell to prospective customers.
  • Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and software applications as well as consumer and commercial communication devices.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as business needs dictate to maximize prospective customer contact.
  • A valid driver's license, car insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and the use of a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Success in a previous sales position, prospecting, or cold calling; direct sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications services, with an emphasis on data networking fundamentals.
