About the position

We are looking for an outgoing and energetic Outside Sales Representative in the Lumber and Building Materials industry to join our growing team! As the Outside Sales Rep, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving sales targets. You will utilize your building materials knowledge, particularly in lumber, trusses, and various exterior building products to effectively communicate and demonstrate the value of our client's products to customers. The Outside Sales Rep will reach business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer and contractor sites and locations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our clients receive the best service and products tailored to their needs, which in turn drives our company's growth and success. In this position, you will ensure the delivery of target sales by meeting with customers and maintaining relationships. You will recommend service and product enhancements to improve sales potential and analyze plans and trends to ensure the best assignment of territories, clients, and service distribution. It is essential to maintain technical and professional knowledge by reviewing professional publications, participating in industry networks, and growing lasting client relationships. Establishing sales objectives by projecting expected sales volumes and forecasting will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also need to remain relevant with economic indicators, changing trends, supply and demand shifts, and product mix. Your positive contribution to the full sales and customer service teams will be vital, as you will develop and collaborate on long- and short-term sales strategies to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of Outside Sales or Account Management experience
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, trusses, and exterior building materials
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships with customers
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
