About the position

Richelieu Hardware is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join our team in Murfreesboro, TN. As a leading North American distributor, importer, and manufacturer of specialty hardware, we pride ourselves on our extensive product offerings and our commitment to customer satisfaction. The Outside Sales Representative will play a crucial role in managing relationships and driving sales within their designated territory, which includes cabinet and furniture manufacturers, as well as residential and commercial woodworkers. This position requires a proactive approach to sales, engaging in structured consultative discussions both in-person and virtually, and acting as a trusted business advisor to our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of day-to-day sales activities, focusing on growing our local business. You will need to be highly motivated and capable of self-directing your time and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in outside sales, preferably within the building materials or construction industries, and possess a passion for providing solutions to customers. Knowledge of building materials, cabinetry, closets, and millwork is preferred, as it will enhance your ability to connect with clients and understand their needs. The Outside Sales Representative will utilize our CRM system to track daily activities, plan and optimize sales calls, and follow up on customer requests. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is essential for managing daily tasks and responsibilities. This position requires regular travel, with in-person visits to customers three to four days a week, and may involve occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs. Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day sales activities towards cabinet and furniture manufacturers and woodworkers.
  • Engage in structured consultative sales discussions with customers both in-person and virtually.
  • Act as a business advisor to customers, providing solutions to their needs.
  • Utilize CRM software to track daily activities and optimize sales calls.
  • Plan and organize sales strategies to achieve growth in the local market.
  • Conduct regular visits to customers in the field, three to four days per week.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales, preferably outside sales within the building materials or construction industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use CRM software for tracking and planning sales activities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to self-direct responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge or experience in building materials, bathroom or kitchen cabinetry, closets, and millwork.
