About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at Builders FirstSource plays a crucial role in representing the company by providing exceptional sales and customer service. This position is primarily focused on generating sales by understanding customer needs and design specifications. The representative acts as a liaison between the inside design staff, production staff, and customers to develop comprehensive sales proposals that meet client requirements. A significant portion of the daily activities involves spending time away from the employer's place of business, making sales calls, and obtaining orders or contracts for various services and products. This role requires the representative to develop a strong knowledge of effective sales techniques, gain familiarity with the industry, and understand the company's products and services thoroughly. Additionally, the Outside Sales Representative will have the opportunity to accompany more experienced Outside Sales Representatives or the Sales Manager on customer calls. This mentorship is designed to help the representative become familiar with effective sales and customer service techniques, enhancing their skills and contributing to their professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company by providing sales and customer service.
  • Generate sales by gathering data on customer needs and design specifications.
  • Act as a liaison between inside design staff, production staff, and customers in developing sales proposals.
  • Spend the majority of daily activities away from the employer's place of business making sales calls and obtaining orders or contracts for services and products.
  • Develop knowledge of effective sales techniques and familiarity with the industry and company products and services.
  • Accompany more experienced Outside Sales Reps or Sales Manager on customer calls to learn effective sales and customer service techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 0 - 2 years of industry sales experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
