About the position

The Outside Sales Representative at Summit Companies is responsible for driving the growth of the organization by acquiring new business in the construction and services sector. This role involves engaging with customers to sell various services, including fire alarm and detection systems, low voltage systems, and security services. The representative will lead the sales process from initial contact to contract acquisition, while also fostering relationships with existing customers and assisting in project coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire sales leads for new work including installations for fire alarm and detection, low voltage, clean agents, security, and other services.
  • Provide both outside and inside sales support.
  • Solicit all types of building and construction projects such as new construction, renovations, and retrofits.
  • Lead the sales process from initial contact to contract acquisition.
  • Generate new proposals and follow up on active proposals to close sales.
  • Communicate the status of active proposals to management.
  • Attend internal and external meetings for project coordination and customer engagement.
  • Represent the company professionally among customers and in the industry.
  • Assist Project Managers and Design Department with communication and coordination.
  • Support Accounting personnel with job setup and monitoring profitability.
  • Engage in general marketing activities to promote the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in business development or Fire Life Safety sales preferred.
  • 2 years of experience operating a computer and using Microsoft Office required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Fire Life Safety sales is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting software for tracking costs and billing.
