About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in connecting people and communities by offering best-in-class telecommunication services. This position involves door-to-door solicitation of new prospective customers, where you will actively engage with individuals to promote and sell our services. Your primary focus will be on acquiring new residential customers through direct contact, utilizing assigned leads to maximize your outreach efforts. You will conduct proactive consultative needs analyses to understand customer requirements and tailor your sales presentations accordingly. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and presenting compelling sales proposals that align with the needs of potential customers. Accuracy is key, as you will need to complete all necessary paperwork to support your sales activities, ensuring compliance with quality control guidelines. Participation in team meetings and training programs is essential to support team goals and enhance your sales skills. You will be expected to achieve monthly sales quotas across various products, including high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video services. Additionally, you will need to stay informed about competitors' activities within your assigned territory, reporting any changes in pricing or marketing strategies to your manager. This position requires a strong personal drive to succeed, as your rewards are directly tied to your efforts. You will also need to be flexible with your working hours, as evenings and weekends may be necessary to maximize customer contact. Responsibilities

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Acquire new residential customers through door-to-door contact from assigned leads.
  • Conduct proactive consultative needs analysis with new prospective customers.
  • Develop and present sales presentations/proposals on products and services that meet customers' needs.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork to support sales activities in a manner consistent with quality control guidelines.
  • Support team and team goals by actively participating in all sales meetings and training programs as assigned.
  • Achieve monthly sales quotas in high-speed data, mobile, landline phone, and video sales.
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to products sold in accordance with department practice, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay informed about competitors' activities in assigned territory and inform manager of any changes.
  • Attend and successfully complete training programs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to listen, formulate needs-based sales strategies, and articulate pitches to sell products and services.
  • A passion to succeed and a strong personal drive to sell to prospective customers.
  • Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and software applications as well as consumer and commercial communication devices.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as business needs dictate to maximize prospective customer contact.
  • A valid driver's license, car insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and the use of a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Success in a previous sales position, prospecting, or cold calling; direct sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications services, with an emphasis on data networking fundamentals and the ability to educate consumers on related products and services as needed.
  • 2+ years sales or relevant work experience.
