About the position

The Sales Representative position involves selling programs and services to both current and prospective customers within an assigned territory. This role requires extensive travel to potential customer properties to identify their needs and provide accurate service quotes based on property size and specific customer requirements. The Sales Representative will engage in both in-person and telephone contact to develop leads, conduct follow-up service calls, and ensure customer retention. The position may focus on either residential or commercial sales, and the representative is expected to generate sales revenue by adding new program customers and cross-selling or upselling to existing customers. In this role, the Sales Representative will be responsible for measuring properties with appropriate tools to ensure accuracy in the quoting process, securing sales, and arranging service dates. They will follow established procedures and guidelines to promote and sell Senske products and services within their designated geographic area. Maintaining organized account records and managing customer feedback through a CRM system is essential. The representative will also compile lists of prospective customers based on various resources, prepare sales reports, and conduct retention calls to measure customer satisfaction after services are completed. Resolving customer complaints and analyzing new sale cancellation requests to retain customers are also key responsibilities. The position offers a base salary ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, with the starting salary determined by relevant experience. Additionally, the Sales Representative can earn commissions for revenue sold, with an average first-year commission potential of $20,000 to $30,000. This role is crucial for driving sales and ensuring customer satisfaction within the company’s service offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to potential customer properties to identify needs and provide cost estimates and bids for services.
  • Sell programs and services to present and prospective customers through in-person contact.
  • Secure sales and arrange service dates.
  • Measure property with appropriate tools to ensure utmost accuracy in the quoting process.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to promote and sell Senske products and services within an assigned geographic area.
  • Maintain call records, account status, and customer feedback in the CRM system.
  • Manage account records and programs in an organized manner.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads based on information from direct mailing/advertisement campaigns, community activities, and other resources.
  • Prepare and maintain proper sales reports.
  • Conduct retention and service calls to meet company retention standards.
  • Contact customers to measure satisfaction after service is completed or to assist with questions and service concerns.
  • Work to resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
  • Analyze and distribute new sale cancellation requests to retain customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of outside sales experience, preferably in the lawn/horticulture/pest field.
  • Training or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including experience as a technician is acceptable.
  • Must pass lawn application licensing tests in the state in which the position is selling.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Data entry skills with a mobile device.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills, consultative sales skills, and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
  • Ability to build customer relationships and provide customer service.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel locally on an extensive basis.
  • Time management skills, including punctuality for on-time attendance.
  • Ability to define customer problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Highly motivated to complete tasks within a time frame.
  • Prioritizing, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Valid state driver's license from state of residence within 30 days of hire, and a clean driving record per company standards.
  • Must be 21 years of age by date of hire.
