About the position

The Outside Sales/Territory Manager at East Coast Metal Distributors is responsible for generating sales orders while ensuring optimal customer service. This role involves increasing sales dollars and profits through effective communication with customers and the management team. The successful candidate will possess or attain comprehensive knowledge of the products and services offered by East Coast Metal Distributors (E.C.M.D.) and will be able to communicate this knowledge effectively to customers. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and maintaining assigned customer accounts, as well as actively seeking new accounts to expand the customer base. In this role, the Territory Manager will provide valuable information to customers to assist them in their purchasing decisions regarding the company's products and services. This includes traveling to customer locations to follow up on orders, answer questions, and secure new orders. The position demands superior communication skills and strong customer relation abilities to effectively engage with both potential and current customers. Additionally, the Territory Manager will be responsible for entering, analyzing, and monitoring customer pricing letters for assigned accounts, as well as collecting receivables from these accounts. The role also involves regular communication with the Branch Manager regarding vendor delivery dates, special orders, and non-stock items, as well as coordinating customer deliveries that require special attention. The Territory Manager will be tasked with ordering sales literature for the branch and performing other related duties as assigned by the Region General Manager or requested by the Branch Manager. This position is essential for driving sales growth and ensuring customer satisfaction within the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain assigned customer accounts.
  • Actively seek new accounts.
  • Provide information to customers to assist in their purchasing decisions for company products and services.
  • Travel to customer locations to follow up with orders, answer questions, and obtain new orders.
  • Effectively communicate with potential and current customers utilizing superior communication skills and customer relation skills.
  • Enter, analyze, and monitor customer pricing letters for assigned accounts.
  • Collect receivables from assigned accounts.
  • Communicate with Branch Manager concerning vendor delivery dates, special orders, and non-stock items.
  • Help coordinate customer deliveries requiring special attention.
  • Order sales literature for the branch.
  • Perform and complete other related duties assigned by Region General Manager or requested by the Branch Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior work experience in the HVAC industry and in sales is desired.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and selling skills are required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends with minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret training material is necessary.
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills.
