About the position

The Outside Technical Sales position is responsible for managing daily operations related to sales and customer engagement. This role involves contacting both regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain features, and solicit orders. The position requires a strong understanding of technical products and the ability to provide ongoing support to clients post-sale.

Responsibilities

  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
  • Recommend products to customers based on their needs and interests.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
  • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
  • Provide customers with product samples and catalogs.
  • Identify prospective customers using business directories, leads from existing clients, and participation in organizations and trade shows.
  • Prepare drawings, estimates, and bids that meet specific customer needs.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years Technical Sales experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, electronic devices, motors, motor control, inverter drives, sensors, and cameras.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Must have a driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Computer literate (Windows, Microsoft, Lotus Notes).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with technical sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and business/technical work experience.
