About the position

Access Choice Care is an agency dedicated to providing residential and vocational supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities. We are looking for dedicated employees who will empower individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities in a residential setting to improve their independence and quality of life, and to help them live out the choices that they want to make. This position requires staff to work in a team of 4-6 members at a site located on the West Side of Cincinnati, OH. Staff will assist consumers in their daily activities, plan and conduct activities in the community, and provide transportation to appointments and community outings. Additionally, staff will assist with personal care, medication administration, and social skills development, all aimed at improving the quality of life for the individuals we serve. The role involves a fair amount of documentation, so good written communication skills are essential. Staff must be comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks, including meal preparation, housekeeping, errand services, grocery shopping, and assistance with hygiene, including showering and changing if needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to help others, a caring and compassionate demeanor, and strong leadership skills. This position requires working weekends, at least every other weekend, and attendance at all mandatory trainings and staff meetings is non-negotiable. Candidates must be 18 years or older, possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED, and be able to pass a criminal history background check. A valid driver's license and car insurance are also required unless working overnight shifts or at a site that does not require driving.

Responsibilities

  • Assist consumers in their daily activities to improve independence and quality of life.
  • Plan and conduct activities in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Transport and accompany individuals to appointments and community outings.
  • Assist with personal care and medication administration.
  • Support individuals in developing social skills and learning opportunities.
  • Perform meal preparation, housekeeping, and cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Document daily activities and care provided accurately and timely.
  • Handle occasional behavioral challenges with patience and understanding.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Current/valid driver's license and car insurance required (unless working overnight shifts).
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for documentation purposes.
  • Must attend all mandatory trainings and staff meetings without exceptions.
  • 1 year of caregiving experience required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
