About the position

The Diesel Mechanic position at Sapp Bros. involves servicing heavy-duty trucks and trailers, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and conducting repairs efficiently. Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other defects in heavy-duty semi-tractors and trailers.
• Ensure customer needs are met in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
• Replace and balance tires following established procedures.
• Repair or replace starters, generators, and universal joints.
• Adjust and/or replace brakes.
• Discuss service and repair problems with customers when necessary.
• Help complete work orders.
• Perform emergency repairs in the field.
• Perform minor arc welding.
• Help train and advance other team members.
• Ensure housekeeping guidelines are followed.
• Follow all established safety guidelines, including Lock Out Tag Out compliance.
• Adhere to established drain plug torque procedures.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the manager.
• Operate service truck and provide roadside repairs, including tires.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Minimum 1 year of previously related experience in automotive or diesel preferred.
• A combination of training, education, and/or experience equivalent to the standards set forth by Sapp Bros service center.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• ASE Certification preferred.
• Ability to provide proper documentation establishing identity and eligibility to be legally employed in the United States.
• Willingness to undergo a criminal background and employment reference check.
