About the position

Lockwood & Winant, a wholesale seafood distributor located in the Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Overnight Office Clerk to join our office team. This full-time position requires working from Monday through Friday, with hours from 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The Overnight Office Clerk will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our administrative and clerical functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various essential tasks, including data entry, communication with vendors, organizing and filing paperwork, assisting in office projects, and performing any other duties as reasonably assigned. This position is vital for maintaining the efficiency of our office operations and supporting our team in delivering excellent service to our customers. In this role, the Overnight Office Clerk will be expected to report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed, and ready to tackle the day's tasks. The responsibilities will include data entry for accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as inventory management. The clerk will ensure proper filing, retention, and archiving of purchase, inventory, and sales documents, which is essential for maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the role involves light phone duties and customer contact, retrieving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail, and assisting in the preparation and distribution of reports. The clerk will also be responsible for mailing out signed checks and filing backup documents, as well as mailing out statements. The ability to work independently, resourcefully, and reliably is crucial for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed.
  • Data Entry: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory.
  • Ensure proper filing, retention and archiving of Purchase, Inventory, Sales Documents and other files.
  • Light phones / customer contact.
  • Retrieve, sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Assist in preparation and distribution of reports.
  • Mail out signed checks and file backup.
  • Mail out Statements.
  • Perform other job functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 years' prior experience in an administrative and/or clerical role.
  • Must be able to work independently, resourcefully, and be trustworthy/reliable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to deliver effective results, meet deadlines, and targets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • High School Diploma required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
