About the position
The Heat Treat Operator position at McWilliams Forge Company involves assisting in the hardening and tempering of metal objects within the Heat Treat department. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and precision of forged products used in the aerospace industry. The operator will work on-site in Rockaway, NJ, primarily during overnight shifts on weekends, and will be responsible for various tasks that support the heat treating process.
Responsibilities
- Loading, unloading, and verifying quantity of parts per work order documentation and job instructions.
- Quenching heated parts in liquid baths such as oil or water.
- Performing maintenance (TPM) to the equipment.
- Following verbal and written instructions given by supervision.
- Reporting any heat treat discrepancies to the heat treat lead person.
- Exercising judgment in following instructions and standardized procedures.
- Assisting in multiple departments as needed.
Requirements
- Proficient in English to speak, read, and write instructions.
- Ability to assist other departments as needed.
- Availability to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency or equivalent years of manufacturing experience.
- Comfortable working in an environment with temperature swings.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
