About the position
The Overnight Veterinary Triage Technician plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the veterinary hospital, focusing on emergency and critical care situations. This position involves direct patient care, assisting veterinarians, and ensuring a clean and organized environment for both animals and staff.
Responsibilities
- Obtaining patient history
- Assisting during emergency/critical care situations
- Recording notes in Smartflow
- Assisting the doctor-on-duty during the physical exam
- Aiding in animal restraint
- Collecting specimens for lab testing
- Running lab tests as directed by the doctor-on-duty
- Invoicing patient procedures and appointments (out-patient)
- Cleaning exam rooms following every exam
- Creating accession forms for labs to be sent out
- Maintaining steady laundry flow
- Maintaining a clean pharmacy/treatment/boarding area
- Presenting treatment plans to clients (estimates)
- Processing/autoclaving surgery instruments as necessary
- Processing payments/deposits
- Checking in and putting away inventory orders
- Walking, feeding, and medicating boarders.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- At least 1 year of industry-related experience
- Flexible schedule to accommodate overnight shifts and some weekends and holidays
- Basic animal restraint skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- Experience within the veterinary industry or similar field.
