About the position

The P&C Pricing Actuarial - Data Analyst III role at American National focuses on supporting various areas within P&C Operations by delivering analytic solutions that facilitate data-driven decision-making. The position involves performing data analysis, developing methods for data management, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet their data needs.

Responsibilities

  • Translate data needs and goals from stakeholders by understanding data structures and gathering requirements.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and spreadsheets for P&C Operations using current tools and standards.
  • Create SQL queries to extract and manipulate data, ensuring the accuracy of reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain methods to distribute management information throughout P&C Operations.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to validate data completeness and accuracy.
  • Document and update policies, procedures, and processes used in P&C Operations.
  • Respond to support questions promptly and accurately, analyzing results and issues.
  • Review policies and processes created or updated by junior Data Analysts.
  • Validate queries, reports, and dashboards developed by junior Data Analysts for accuracy.
  • Translate findings into written summaries and visuals for non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups.
  • Identify data errors and collaborate with stakeholders to correct them.
  • Ensure data security in compliance with corporate privacy procedures.
  • Assist with training stakeholders on data usage, SQL, and PowerBI.
  • Act as a delegate for supervisors or managers when appropriate.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a business or technical environment.
  • Four to six years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Access.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Indirect leadership experience, including training and mentoring.
