About the position

As a dedicated P&C Product Management Analyst Consultant for the Personal Lines State Management team at USAA, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting data for the property and casualty product line. This position involves interpreting complex data analysis to identify opportunities and challenges within assigned states. You will be responsible for developing recommendations that support product strategy, with a deliberate focus on profitability, competitiveness, and sales performance for the assigned states. In this role, you will analyze complex internal and external data, including segment-level performance, local market trends, and cost-benefit analysis, while comparing weekly and monthly performance against plans and forecasts. You will also develop recommendations related to multi-year strategic goals, policy and membership growth, product enhancements, and non-rate actions. Additionally, you will formulate responses to routine and complex member inquiries that are elevated by Member Contact teams. Your interactions will extend to key stakeholders across the business, including Underwriting, Marketing, Legal, and IT, to collect and analyze information that drives business goals. You will develop complex product dashboards and reporting using tools such as Excel and Tableau to support the identification of key performance metrics, including results monitoring and competitive positioning. Furthermore, you will prepare and deliver performance presentation materials for business reviews with the extended state team, leadership, and other stakeholders. Maintaining expert knowledge of current state laws and regulatory environments for assigned states is essential, as is ensuring that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes complex internal and external data such as segment level performance, local market trends, cost benefit analysis, and weekly and monthly performance vs plan/forecast.
  • Develops recommendations related to multi-year strategic goals, policy/membership growth, product enhancements, and non-rate actions.
  • Formulates responses to routine and complex member inquiries elevated by Member Contact teams.
  • Interacts with, and at times directs, key stakeholders across the business to collect and analyze information that drives the business goals including but not limited to Underwriting, Marketing, Legal, IT.
  • Develops complex product dashboards and reporting in excel, Tableau, or other analytical tools to support the identification of key performance metrics such as results monitoring, competitive position, and local market strategy execution.
  • Develops and delivers performance presentation briefing materials for business reviews with extended state team, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Understands and maintains expert knowledge of current state laws and regulatory environments for assigned states.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of relevant product or program management experience analyzing data and developing recommendations, or an advanced degree in Business with 2 years of product or program management experience.
  • 2 years of P&C experience.
  • Advanced skills using data querying tools and dashboards including Excel, Tableau, or other analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of product related regulations, and risk and compliance requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior product management experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance business.
  • Proven complex data analytical experience and the ability to demonstrate an aptitude for pulling data as well as analyze trends to make recommendations to leadership.
  • Proficient knowledge of SAS, SQL, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Consistent demonstration of leadership behaviors.
