About the position

As a dedicated P&C Product Management Analyst for the Personal Lines State Management team at USAA, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting data for assigned property and casualty products and states. Your primary responsibility will be to utilize data analytics to identify complex loss and production trends, connecting these trends to business results and product strategy. This position is integral to supporting the product strategy with a deliberate focus on profitability, competitiveness, and sales performance for the assigned states. You will be expected to compile and analyze complex internal and external data, such as frequency and severity trends by segment, local market growth performance, and coverage level results, both on an ad-hoc basis and through regular weekly/monthly evaluations. In addition to data analysis, you will develop recommendations related to pricing strategy, planning, and forecasting, as well as policy and membership growth. You will also respond to routine member inquiries that have been elevated by Member Contact teams, ensuring that member needs are met effectively. Your role will involve maintaining and assisting with the development of product dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel and Tableau, which will support the identification of key performance metrics in assigned states, regions, or countrywide. Collaboration with value chain partners will be essential as you monitor the results of actions implemented by the extended state team. Furthermore, you will assist in the development of performance presentation materials for business reviews with the extended state team, leadership, and other stakeholders. To succeed in this role, you will need to develop knowledge and expertise around current state laws and regulatory environments for your assigned states. It is also critical to ensure that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes complex internal and external data such as frequency and severity trends by segment, local market growth performance, and coverage level results, both ad-hoc and weekly/monthly as needed, in support of the monitoring and evaluation of state performance.
  • Develops recommendations related to pricing strategy, planning, and forecasting, and policy/membership growth.

  • Maintains and assists with developing product dashboards and reports in Excel, Tableau, or other analysis tools to support the identification of key performance metrics in assigned state(s), region, or countrywide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years of relevant product or program management experience analyzing data and developing recommendations, or an advanced degree in Business.
  • 1 year of P&C experience.
  • Intermediate level skills using data querying tools and dashboards including Excel, Tableau, or other analysis tools.
  • Experience utilizing data to create briefings/presentations.
  • Developing knowledge of product related regulations, and risk and compliance requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Property & Casualty experience, particularly in one or more key functions (e.g., Product Management, Pricing, Underwriting, Finance, etc.).
  • Proven complex data analytical experience and the ability to demonstrate aptitude for pulling data as well as analyze trends to make recommendations to leadership.
  • Proficient knowledge of SAS, SQL, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Highly effective communication and salesmanship skills leveraged to guide, mentor, and influence business improvement.
  • Demonstrated Bias for Action in an environment of ambiguity.
