ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified P.E. Teacher for Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan, for the 2024-2025 school year. Barber Preparatory Academy is a public charter school that serves students from PK to 8th grade, offering a well-rounded education that includes community service learning and competitive sports. Celebrating a decade of service to the Highland Park community, the school is known for its welcoming staff and faculty, and is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students across the United States since 2014. As a P.E. Teacher, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering lesson plans, differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. You will utilize research-based best practices in your daily planning and classroom instruction, manage student behavior, and create a positive learning environment. Additionally, you will communicate with families regarding their child's academic and social-emotional growth, incorporate technology into your teaching, and collaborate effectively with colleagues. This position also involves participating in non-instructional activities and performing other duties as assigned. We are looking for candidates who hold an active and current state of Michigan teaching license in the appropriate content area, possess a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and have a high level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment. Excellent communication skills, the ability to manage confidential information, and experience working with students in various school settings are essential for this role. Candidates must also be able to pass federal and state criminal background checks and have experience working within an urban environment.
