About the position

The P2C Project Coordinator is a part-time grant-funded position through the Indiana Latino Institute Pathway to Careers (ILI P2C) grant. This role is essential in supporting the retention of Latino/x scholars at Ivy Tech Community College. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Diversity, Equity & Belonging and will be stationed in the Center for Intercultural Excellence. The position is designed to foster an inclusive environment that promotes student success and engagement, particularly among Latino/x populations. The coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing initiatives that align with the goals of the grant, ensuring that students are effectively placed in various campus offices where they can contribute to meaningful projects. In addition to overseeing student placements, the coordinator will maintain essential records related to student performance, including grades and attendance, which are critical for grant reporting. The role requires collaboration across multiple departments to enhance the overall experience of P2C scholars and to facilitate events such as the Somos Ivy Tech Latino/x recruitment day. The coordinator will also be expected to attend meetings with the Indiana Latino Institute as necessary, ensuring that the college's initiatives are aligned with community needs and expectations. This position is pivotal in driving the college's mission of fostering diversity, equity, and belonging within the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and manage new initiatives focused on the retention of P2C scholars (per the grant).
  • Oversee the site placement of the ILI P2C Scholars in various offices across campus and ensure the students are working on projects that are aligned with the grant.
  • Train and prep students for work assignments.
  • Maintain student grades, attendance, and any other data needed for the grant.
  • Attend meetings with the Indiana Latino Institute as necessary.
  • Maintain records and data associated with the grant for reporting purposes.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments on campus.
  • Assist in coordinating the Somos Ivy Tech Latino/x recruitment day.

Requirements

  • Experience with project management and assessment.
  • Professional work experience in institutions of higher education or related fields.
  • Experience related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, especially the Latino/x community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills including a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving, and a desire to identify and support student success.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canvas, Zoom).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience in working with non-profits or community colleges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
