The Assistant Managing Director for Clinical Legal Education will play a pivotal role in the Clinical Legal Program at the Law School, contributing to the mission of educating law students while providing access to justice in the broader community. This position is integral to the operational success of the program and reports directly to the Vice Dean and Director of Experiential and Clinical Legal Education. The Assistant Managing Director will be responsible for overseeing all administrative matters in the absence of the department head or as delegated, ensuring that the program runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Assistant Managing Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to prioritize program work and analyze practices for continuous improvement. This includes managing multiple projects that involve various stakeholders, ensuring that all initiatives align with the program's goals. The position also entails developing and maintaining departmental and program budgets, managing purchases, and ensuring compliance with the current rules and regulations of the University and the State. Additionally, the Assistant Managing Director will manage relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, and freelancers, which includes gathering quotes and maintaining vendor contracts. The role requires the development, implementation, and supervision of communication strategies and social media output to enhance the visibility and outreach of the Clinical Legal Education Program. The Assistant Managing Director will supervise all administrative staff members and will be responsible for the successful management of programming for events such as conferences, continuing legal education (CLE) events, student celebrations, and other special occasions hosted by the Clinical Legal Department. The mission of the Clinical Legal Education Program is to deliver access to justice while teaching UB law students to be excellent, ethical, and engaged lawyers. The program offers diverse and sophisticated practice opportunities to second-year, third-year, and LL.M. students, allowing them to work closely with skilled faculty clinicians on cutting-edge issues and complex matters, where creativity and innovation are essential for effective client service.
