About the position

The Business Development Manager will lead the Business Development team to create and implement strategies aimed at meeting all program growth and enrollment goals. This role is pivotal in developing new business development leads and proactively building partnerships within the San Francisco and Santa Clara County communities. The manager will be responsible for achieving all program business development, growth, and enrollment targets, ensuring that the organization meets its objectives in a competitive healthcare landscape. In this position, the Business Development Manager will develop and grow new business development networks in the San Francisco and Santa Clara County communities through effective management of business development activities, referral generation, and strategic relationship-building initiatives. The manager will generate new referral leads by initiating external business development activities with potential referral sources, which include hospital discharge planning departments, senior centers, community organizations, social services, home health agencies, and housing organizations. Utilizing data and metrics will be essential for identifying market penetration opportunities and driving the business development plan and strategies. The manager will create and maintain a robust monthly referral pipeline and implement business development strategies to overcome obstacles to enrollment conversion. Additionally, executing a marketing plan with effective messaging to build awareness of programs in the community will be a key responsibility. The Business Development Manager will also effectively lead, supervise, and train Business Development staff to achieve all business development, growth, and enrollment targets, while performing other job duties as required by the manager or supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve all program business development, growth, and enrollment targets.
  • Develop and grow new business development networks in San Francisco and Santa Clara County communities.
  • Generate new referral leads by initiating external business development activities with potential referral sources.
  • Proactively utilize data and metrics to identify market penetration opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a robust monthly referral pipeline and implement business development strategies.
  • Execute a marketing plan with effective messaging to build awareness of programs in the community.
  • Effectively lead, supervise, and train Business Development staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in healthcare, particularly in organizations serving the geriatric population.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervising and managing teams.
  • Existing business development network in the San Francisco and Santa Clara County communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with the AAPI community.
  • Strong background in business development in a B2B and/or professional services setting.
  • Strong leadership, consensus building, project management, PR, account management, and external relations skills.
  • Ability to think, plan, and sell strategically.
  • Demonstrated ability to build networks and alliances and influence key decision-makers.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who requires minimal direct management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Poised and sharp presentation skills.
  • Efficient organizational skills.
  • Currently BLS and First Aid certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a start-up environment is preferred.
  • Fluency in other languages is an asset.
