About the position

The Health Information Systems (HIS) Manager at San Ysidro Health is responsible for overseeing the activities of the HIS department, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and implementing best practices in health information management. This role involves managing document storage, imaging, forms management, and the release of information, while also focusing on staff development and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage activities of the HIS department related to health information development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and implement policies and procedures for health information maintenance.
  • Supervise health information staff and department operations, including planning, developing, and reviewing work.
  • Conduct hiring, orientation, and staff development through in-service training programs.
  • Enhance staff professional growth through educational programs and workshops.
  • Monitor compliance with adopted standards, policies, and procedures at San Diego PACE Centers.
  • Retrieve and analyze data from records for reports, audits, and reviews.
  • Develop and produce reports on employee productivity.
  • Interpret and communicate laws and regulations pertaining to medical records and staff.
  • Oversee health information operations and related areas.
  • Support and develop the electronic medical records system for clinical services personnel.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational meetings and debrief staff on initiatives.
  • Ensure medical record compliance with PACE regulatory timelines.

Requirements

  • Direct HIS leadership role within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum one year of intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent healthcare experience is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • A current, valid Certificate as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
  • Experience in Microsoft Word.
