As a Package Sorter at Amazon, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team at the delivery station, which serves as the final stop before we deliver smiles to our customers. This role is fast-paced and active, where you will receive trucks full of orders and prepare them for delivery. Your responsibilities will include loading conveyor belts, transporting, and staging deliveries for drivers to pick up. You may also work with larger items such as large screen TVs, furniture, and appliances, and receive training on how to handle these heavy bulk items using technology. In this position, you will be expected to perform various duties, including receiving and preparing inventory for delivery, utilizing technology such as smartphones and handheld devices to sort, scan, and prepare orders, and building, wrapping, sorting, and transporting pallets and packages. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 49 pounds, receive truck deliveries, and follow prompts on screens for task direction. You will be active throughout your shift, which may involve standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching. Additionally, you may need to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other equipment to move items around, and you may be required to work at heights of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine in certain situations. The work environment at an Amazon Delivery Station is dynamic and involves working around moving machines such as order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts. You will experience varying temperatures, with climate controls in place, but temperatures can range from 60°F to 90°F in some areas of the warehouse. Noise levels can be high, and hearing protection is provided if needed. The dress code is relaxed, but safety is paramount, requiring comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and in some cases, protective safety footwear, for which Amazon provides a $110 Zappos gift code to help you prepare for your first day.
