About The Position

The Packaging Machine Operator at Utz Quality Foods is responsible for preparing and operating packaging machines in a manufacturing environment. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting. The position is based in Hanover, PA, on the Weekend Day shift, from Friday to Sunday, 5:55 AM to 5:55 PM.

Requirements

• Requires basic math and English reading skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate with Machine Operators in English.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Must be willing and able to stand 100% of the time.
• Requires knowledge of product quality and production processes.
• Moderate lifting (40lbs).

Responsibilities

• Prepares machine for start of production and makes adjustments when packaging different products.
• Changes rolls of packaging and ink tape as necessary.
• Samples the seals on five empty bags an hour.
• Judges speed of machine necessary to keep production on schedule.
• Verifies gram weight every hour.
• Occasionally climbs ladders; heavy lifting (up to 95 lbs.) required.
• Carries tubs of chips from bad bags up the ladder to platform of packaging machine and empties into the machine.
• Must possess the ability required to run assigned machines efficiently and minimize downtime.
• Must have the ability to fill out all appropriate paperwork, such as impression counts and make calculations from scanning activity.
• Responsible to follow all safety rules and work safely at all times.
• Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.
• Responsible to report unsafe equipment and practices to supervisor.
• Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Requires working proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
