About the position

The Packaging Operator is responsible for executing daily packaging schedules and maintaining packaging equipment to ensure the highest quality of packaged products. This role involves operating various machinery, maintaining a clean work environment, and collaborating with team members to resolve issues and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tasks to meet packaging schedules.
  • Operate and maintain packaging equipment including carton/carrier erection machines, depalletizers, drop packers, case wrappers, and more.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure correct attachment of packaging machines to bright tanks to prevent contamination.
  • Verify that finished products are correct in terms of beer, label, crown, bottle, and packaging.
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Packaging Supervisor, including cleaning and light maintenance.
  • Operate packaging equipment or assist in other departments as needed.
  • Perform and complete PM projects as directed by supervisors or maintenance personnel.
  • Report quality issues with glass, packaging, or machinery to the appropriate authority.
  • Assist in the CIP process on machinery and ensure correct cleaning chemical concentrations.
  • Work with QA to correct quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Mentor less experienced personnel to improve their skills.
  • Resolve maintenance issues with packaging equipment independently.
  • Complete tasks indicated by Maintenance & Cleaning Logs.
  • Conduct fill level checks and ensure DO, CO2, and TPO analysis are within specifications.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Packaging Associate or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with brewery safety programs and a commitment to operator safety.
  • Basic knowledge of brewing and cellaring processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Understanding of brewery sanitation and food safety programs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
