About the position

The Packaging Operator Mechanic 1 is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting packaging equipment in a brewery setting. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, facilitating shift meetings, and training fellow operators. The position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure production demands are met while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate, clean, inspect, lubricate, and perform maintenance tasks on packaging equipment.
• Respond to complex equipment issues as they arise.
• Facilitate shift carryover meetings and train fellow operators on production processes and equipment.
• Perform routine work for various production lines including start-ups, shut-downs, and changeovers.
• Conduct cleaning of production equipment and work areas to maintain sanitation standards.
• Complete preventative maintenance and corrective work orders, addressing issues for repairs and inspections.
• Perform advanced equipment inspections and complex repairs and maintenance of equipment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Warehouse, Quality, Brewing, and Brewery Support.
• Promote information sharing and support SOP development within the team.
• Read and understand P&IDs, SOPs, technical drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
• Operate process control equipment and monitor product movement.
• Document equipment problems using a CMMS.

Requirements

• 1 year experience in a production, industrial, or mechanical setting required.
• 1 year of technical studies or training related to production or packaging science, mechanical systems, engineering, mechatronics, machining, or electronics required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership and initiative.
• Ability to grasp technical material quickly.
• Understanding of equipment automation functions and familiarity with PLCs or other automated control systems.
• Advanced understanding of brewery processes and operating equipment on a high-speed packaging line.
• Proficient in using hand tools such as Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and sockets/wrenches.
• Strong attention to detail and eye for package quality.
