About the position

The Packaging & Shipping Associate at Imerys is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials, adhering to safety policies, and maintaining a clean work environment. This role involves operating equipment, inspecting products, and completing necessary documentation for shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Imerys, MSHA and Equipment Mfg. Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation (Preshift).
  • Check all fluids, fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, tires, steering, brakes, etc.
  • Receive loading instructions on MSS for each shipment and identify Lot Numbers and Customer Order Numbers on products prior to loading.
  • Inspect products prior to loading to identify broken or poorly stacked bags for removal and replacement.
  • Complete Shipping Check Sheets and take photos after loading each shipment.
  • Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers by hand or using hand trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Sort material before loading and unloading.
  • Load Box Rail Cars and record Seal Numbers, completing the Boxcar Loading Form.
  • Continually replenish staging areas of pallets and bags for smooth transition of production shifts.
  • Identify damaged or defective materials and complete necessary paperwork for identification purposes.
  • Empty all trash bins and dump boxes in assigned areas prior to the end of shift.
  • Maintain clean/housekeeping area at all times.
  • Operate Hi-Lift in a safe manner and identify necessary maintenance issues, notifying Supervisor of any maintenance issues.
  • Perform any other job duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail for inspecting products and completing documentation.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures diligently.
  • Physical ability to move freight and materials as required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with MSHA regulations and safety practices.
