We're looking for a talented PACKAGING / STRUCTURAL DESIGNER who is eager to innovate, create, and contribute to our success. Responsibilities

  • Create structural designs for corrugated packaging, ensuring that designs meet customer specifications, cost requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop prototypes of new designs, conduct tests for strength, durability, and functionality, and make necessary adjustments based on test results.
  • Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide design solutions that enhance product presentation, protection, and marketability.
  • Utilize design software to work graphic elements into structural packaging designs, ensuring that branding, artwork, and labeling meet customer specifications and enhance the overall appearance and marketability of the product.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met, and design quality standards are upheld.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design solutions by optimizing material usage and manufacturing processes without compromising on quality or performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during the manufacturing process to ensure design integrity and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of designs, including specifications, revisions, and testing results, and prepare detailed technical drawings for production.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies in packaging design to continuously improve and innovate product offerings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Understanding of structural design, preferably in corrugated packaging or a related industry.
  • Proficient with Esko ArtiosCAD, Esko Studio, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and SolidWorks.
  • Capable of using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovation and practical application in design.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring devices.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of design and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated creativity and a keen eye for design aesthetics, combined with the technical ability to translate ideas into practical solutions.
