About the position

The Packaging Associate is responsible for the final review of finished products and packaging materials, ensuring they meet quality expectations, and packaging products for delivery to customers. This role involves inspecting products, communicating quality concerns, and operating packaging equipment while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect finished products and packaging materials to ensure they meet quality expectations.
  • Communicate concerns to Quality Auditor, Operator, Lead Operator and/or Supervisor.
  • Discard product that does not meet expectations in accordance with site procedures.
  • Package all product types for all lines in the facility.
  • Package final products in accordance with the specification requirements including count and/or stack height.
  • Bagging of products, sealing of bags, and boxing of product sleeves.
  • Apply required labeling and ensure date coding and other necessary information is as expected.
  • Build/stack boxes in accordance with pallet/stack layout.
  • Manually palletize as required.
  • Perform rework for rejected product or damaged boxes.
  • Properly utilize packaging equipment, including resetting ink jet printers and operating the auto bagger.
  • Load and stage KDs (boxes) as directed.
  • Change or replace tape in box taper and clear product jams in packaging equipment.
  • Communicate need for restock of packaging materials on the lines.
  • Assist in scrap management and safely utilize grinders for recycling scrap.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including PPE requirements and GMP standards.
  • Participate in all required communication and training meetings.
  • Support all LEAN and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, distribution or other industrial setting preferred.
  • Basic math skills and ability to demonstrate logic when performing responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work closely as part of a team.
  • Understanding of machine operations to identify hazards.
